In a press conference held last 25 January, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said that Information Technology is key to finding the country’s niche in the new economy of the 21st century. According to the president, the Philippines has to strengthen its competitive advantage in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). She added that her administration will address 3 areas of concern for ICT namely: building the physical infrastructure for connectivity at a low rate, enhancing the policy and legislative environment to further promote ICT, and human resource development.
